Fae/Faer
As a person who identifies with fairies and uses fae/faer pronouns, I express my non-binary experience by featuring insects and arachnids that I relate to. This collection is an amalgamation of my own digital textile designs and natural dye techniques using homegrown flowers. Like spiders, queer people are often overlooked and underestimated but we have magic within us.

Prints and Color Palette
In the fall of 2021 I was assigned to create a digital repeating pattern that is unique and novel. I was visiting home that weekend and decided to flip through my father vintage national geographic collection for inspiration. I cut out pictures of my favorite creepy crawlies and colored them in with paint markers. From there I scanned and digitized my images and turned them into repeating patterns. I revisited these prints in 2023 and recolorized them to fit my spring color palette.

Fabric Dyeing

In 2022, I took a class on natural fabric dying techniques. I felt very inspired and brought fabrics that I hand dyed into my collection. The dye techniques I used were Japanese shibori, ice dying, and tea staining. I used multiple fabrics created using a botanical bundle dye, all of them done with flowers grown in my mothers garden.
